About
In January 2002 we purchased the property with the intention of preserving the cabins for families to come and enjoy the lake. Five summers later (2007), we were ready to begin renting our cabins out to the public. It has been a long process!
For each cabin, we were able to rebuild the front porches, add new roofs and completely gut each cabin down to the studs. We were lucky to have great help from family and friends (especially Dad, Craig and Randy!)
Our children have also helped in many ways — putting on new roofs, adding skirting to the mobile homes, cleaning the shore-line, painting and mowing the lawns are just a few things they have helped us with along the way. It hasn’t been all work and no fun — we’ve enjoyed many family picnics along the way as well!
Each cabin has new bathrooms. Previously, the cabins only had toilets (there was a building that was used as a community shower building) but we thought it would be best if each cabin had its own shower.
There are new windows/doors on the porches, but we refurbished the windows and doors in the main cabin room in order to maintain the unique look/feel of the cabins.
New electrical and plumbing also brings these unique cabins up to code.
Many people who saw the cabins before we began the renovation process suggested we tear them down. Our hope is that these cabins will now be enjoyed by families and friends for many generations to come.
